This is a Steffen Brothers burgundy beauty with a McKellip-style reel seat redwood insert. Garrison pocketed buttcap made by my italian friend, Davide Fiorani. A simple signature slide ring turned in house. An old school stripping guide wrapped by a scarlet Pearsalls Gossamer silk thread and otherwise single foot guides. The seamless transition from the butt cap to the grip makes the rod easy and comfortable to hold.

This is a 9´0 #7 from the casting-guru Gary Loomis. It is a really light #7 designed for overhead cast.
In a dispute with the G.Loomis company. Gary Loomis himself quit the company and started North Fork Composite. His rods are among the best on the market these days. His rods are on the fast side and are designed for long range distance casting.
The build is quite simple. A small fighting butt with a green rubber cap. Joel Lemke hardware with cork insert. A Ritz grip. A green signature wrap on the stripping guide. Transparent wrapping not the rest of the guides, except a small green wrapping on the tip top. The total weight is 116 gram.

If I were to recommend a new fly rod brand to anyone it would be Mystic River. They have a really great line of rods. One of my favourites is "The Reaper". Mystic River have designed their own Reaper-design with economical components so it is a cheaper choice. I wanted to "pimp" this olive colored rod with components i think it deserves; Pocketed end cap with aluminum slide band. Bocote wood soaked and varnished with 8 layers of spar varnish. A ventilated cigar grip, so you can really feel the rod in your hand. Green translucent wrappings. Green agate stone as a stripping guide. It has a fast action and have done well in reviews all over the world.

This is a medium / fast action fly rod from Swift Epic. It is one of the best, if not the best available carbon fly rod at the moment. The blank itself is beautiful and really light. It is lighter than equivalent blanks by Scott or Sage. Silica nano-resin makes for a very tough, lightweight and extremely responsive blank. From their website: Epic C (Carbon) series fly rod blanks are high performance fishing tools. The lockup point develops in the top third of the blank, and although recovery rates are fast, the Epic C series would best be described as Mid Flex (Orvis) or Medium fast (Sage). They are light without sacrificing strength (lighter than the equivalent Sage one).

I got hold of this 2 sections Thomas & Thomas blank from a enthusiast who bought this ES blank in various sizes when it went out of production. And I understand why! This rod just feel absolutely brilliant in your hand. It is pure fun to cast. The blank is beautifully designed in a charcoal colour. I have designed it with a brass end cap and slide ring. A rather strict designed cigar grip.

The Swift Epic rods are getting more and more popular around the world. And it is without a doubt the most interesting thing happened to fly fishermen for a long long time. The New Zealand company have been successful in creating a modern fly rod which is extremely well designed. The 476 is a powerful, light, lively and extremely accurate fly rod. When building this rod I wanted to make a rod that you can really feel in the palm of your hand. So I made a ventilated grip to let you feel every millimeter of power in this rod. The ventilated cigar grip is a extension from the McKellip-style reel seat.

I built this rod ages ago. I thought I had lost it or somehow sold it. Anyway...I found it in the back of the closet. Never used it but I always thought it was a cool taper. 6´0 -4WT isn't very usual for a graphite rod. This rod would be perfect for small streams or lakes. I actually use a kind of winding check. An agate ring serves that purpose. Pocketed butt cap and a aluminum slide band. No stripping guide on this one, but a large single foot instead. Translucent red pearsalls silk wrapped over bronze guides from pac bay. Cork reel seat and a ritz grip.
Rod bag and rod tube included.

This ultralight one weight fly rod is PURE FUN to cast. This is a really quality rod for fishing in small river and lakes. I have one of these myself and I use it without a reel attached. Its like casting the weight of a fly! I am planning to make more of these rods without a reel seat but with a separate line winder. But for this rod I have turned a walnut reel seat with two sliding rings. The seat is dipped five times in Epifanes varnish and dried to get that high gloss look.

This is a second generation Diamondglass, released by Cortland in 2010. This legendary fly rod is well known in most parts of the fly fishing community. The very bamboo-ish fly rod might be one of the best technical/spring creek rods available. It is build with brass hardware and the reel seat insert is Bocote. Transparent wrappings cover the guides and the grip is a rather straight Ritz.

I love building on white fiberglass. And these blanks from Blue Halo have a really nice finish aswell. The white clean look suits my style of design very well. I’ve tried to build it quite sparse with orange at the only colour. The reel seat have a Garrison butt cap and an aluminum slide ring. The reel seat insert is made by polyester. The grip check is a orange rubber ring. The grip is a Ritz. The stripping guide i a really beautiful orange agate.

This is a fiberglass rod a built a couple of years ago. The blank is asian. I don't know the manufacturer. It can be described as a progressive rod. The reel seat is actually fiberglass tubing. I found a tube at a construction site (biodegradable plastic) and took it home an turned it on the lathe. The end cap is green rubber. The slide bands are silver-plated brass. The grip is a 14cm torpedo. The wrapping are transparent pearsalls silk with black trim wraps and the white agate guide is shining at the end of the guides. I am pleased with how this rod turned out. This is an example of the simple and clean design that I prefer.
